What is Baby Dedication?

At Waypoint Community Church, we believe that children are a gift from God. Baby Dedication is a special moment where parents publicly commit to raising their child in a Christ-centered home and community. Parents will present their child before God and the church and agree to seek after His grace and wisdom in raising their child. Parents commit to raise their child to understand they are saved by grace through Jesus Christ, that the Bible is absolute truth, and that the local church is an important part of their community of faith.

Parent Commitments:

  • Raise your child to know, love, and follow Jesus.

  • Teach them God’s Word and pray with and for them.

  • Model Christ-like character and values in your home.

  • Stay connected to a church community for support and growth.

Church Commitments:

  • Supporting you through prayer, encouragement, and discipleship.

  • Teaching your child about God through safe, Christ-centered kids ministry programs.

  • Partnering with you as your child grows in faith and life.

  • You don’t need to be a member of Waypoint Church to participate in baby dedication. However, we do ask that families consider Waypoint their church home. Baby dedication is more than a ceremony—it’s a commitment to raise your child in partnership with God and within a Christ-centered community. As your church family, we are honored to walk alongside you, encourage you, and support your family as you lead your child in faith.

  • At Waypoint Church, we believe that baptism is a personal decision—a step taken by individuals who have chosen to place their trust in Jesus Christ for salvation and understand what it means to follow Him.

    Baby dedication is not a sacrament, and it does not provide saving grace or guarantee salvation. Salvation comes through a personal relationship with Jesus, as each person recognizes their need for forgiveness and accepts His gift of eternal life through His death and resurrection.

    Instead of baptizing infants or young children, we offer a dedication ceremony. In this special moment, parents publicly commit to raise their child according to God’s Word and invite His blessing, guidance, and presence in their child’s life and spiritual journey.

  • Absolutely! Baby dedication is a meaningful step for all parents—including single parents—as they commit to raising their child to know and follow Jesus. We encourage single parents to invite supportive family members, friends, or other key figures in their child’s life to stand with them during the dedication. At Waypoint Church, we are deeply committed to walking alongside single-parent families, offering encouragement, community, and spiritual support as you lay a Christ-centered foundation for your child’s future.

  • Baby dedication is a simple, meaningful moment during service that lasts about 10 minutes. During this special time, parents publicly commit to raising their child in a Christ-centered home and guiding them to grow in their faith. Each family is welcomed and prayed over by our team, and every child receives a Bible as a keepsake to mark the beginning of their faith journey.

  • There is no set schedule for Baby Dedications. If you are interested in participating in Baby Dedication, please register. The Waypoint team will reach out and provide more information on upcoming dedications.
